RUSSELL BRAND TO STAR IN "ROCK OF AGES"

It's official: Russell Brand is set to rock out.

"Rock of Ages" director Adam Shankman took to Twitter to confirm that Brand, long in negotiations for the role, will play Lonny, rock venue owner and narrator, in the big screen adaptation of the hit 1980's, LA rock club-set Broadway show.
"I can officially announce Russell Brand as your Lonny in #rockofagesmovie ! I see a mullet in his future...maybe a Nikki Six?" Shankman tweeted.
Brand joins an already star studded cast. He'll duet with Tom Cruise, who this winter was cast to play megastar Stacee Jaxx, while Alec Baldwin will play Dennis Dupree, a washed up rocker and club owner. Julianne Hough will play the young, naive singer new to LA, and Mary J. Blige will also be in the film. Amy Adams is also in talks to join, to play a journalist who falls for Jaxx. (HUFFINGTON POST)

MARY J BLIGE GETS READY FOR NEW VIDEO - "SOMEONE TO LOVE ME'

Mary J. Blige has romance in the crosshairs. The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul has set a date for the premiere of the video for her new single “Someone to Love Me (Naked).”

The clip, directed by Colin Tilley, is set to debut on April 8 and features appearances from collaborators Lil Wayne and Diddy. The song was released to iTunes this week and the original version appears on Diddy-Dirty Money’s Last Train to Paris album.

MJB revealed the news via Twitter. “My New Video 4 Some One To Love will premier next week! I’m Loving It Fam!!! Hope u will 2!! April 8th! Thank U Wayne and Puff!!!” she wrote.

The R&B veteran is currently working on her 10th studio album, having already put in studio time with producer Danja and songwriter Kevin Cossom. “Everything that I’ve done feels really good,” Danja previously told Rap-Up TV. “Great tracks, funky, you can dance to it. Some is a hybrid of 808s with very heartfelt, soulful piano lines on top of them. You dancing and you in the club, but you kinda feeling a certain way at the same time. Very emotional topics and kinda classic Mary in 2011.” (RAP-UP.COM)

SPOTLIGHT - MARY J BLIGE

The Spotlight This Week Is On Mary J Blige!

Miss Mary has been my girl since she started in the early 90ies. She has a very unique vocal sound and you know who is singing as soon as she starts. As of 2010, She has sold over 50 million albums and 15 million singles from 8 albums. She has 9 Grammy Awards for R&B, Rap, Gospel and Pop - she is the only artist to achieve that!
She was ranked number 100 in the list of 100 greatest singers of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. In November 2010, Billboard Magazine ranked Blige as the most successful female R&B artist of the past 25 years, she ranked number two (overall) ahead of Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Whitney Houston who happen to be 3 of my all time favorite singers along with Madonna. These are my top 5 Female Recording Artists!

Our Top 5 Favorite Super Bowl Performances!

We've gone over past Super Bowl Performances in the last week and have picked our top 5 favorites.

Our all time favorite, favorite halftime performance is from Michael Jackson in 1993!
Everything this man did had meaning - even here, he was attempting to heal the world!!

The Lovely Ms. Diana Ross - 1996

Areosmith NSYNC - 2001, along with Nelly, Mary J and Britney Spears!

This performance from U2 in 2002 is my second favorite...well is actually tied with MJ's 1993 act.
Less than five months after the tragedies of September 11, U2 brought the heart-shaped stage from their Elevation tour to the gridiron. The band kicked off with "Beautiful Day," but it was their 9/11 tribute that captured the most attention. As they played "Where the Streets Have No Name," a scrolling backdrop featured the names of all of the victims who perished in the attacks and Bono finished the song by opening his jacket to reveal the stars and stripes in its lining.

The Rolling Stones - 2006! LOVE their stage!!

What's Your Favorite Super Bowl Halftime Performance??

FABULOUS AT 40!!

Hip-Hop/Soul queen Mary J. Blige turned 40 years young yesterday (Jan. 11) and while she's had a very long and demanding music career, she's gracefully maintained her girlish figure, fashion-forward sense of style and her pristine voice. In fact, the New York-bred Blige is just as good today as she was when she was rocking door knocker earrings and over-sized jerseys.
Happy Birthday - We love you Mz. Mary!

NEW JAMZ - MARY J BLIGE "SOMEONE TO LOVE ME"

Mary J. Blige chimes in on Diddy-Dirty Money’s “Someone to Love Me” featuring Lil Wayne, dubbing her version the “MJB Naked Mix.” With a new 16 from Weezy, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul takes over the vocal sample and adds her own verse to the mix. “I’m strong, but I can break/ I’ve been praying so hard to get through the day,” she wails, trying to shake off the demons.

Mary J Blige On The Today Show!!

Mary J. Blige paid a visit to the “Today” show earlier this morning to promote her new fragrance My Life. Clad in a black overcoat, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul spoke on how her perfume sold 60,000 bottles in six hours on HSN and how a dollar of every purchase goes to her FFAWN foundation to better women.
“Educating them, empowering them, and encouraging them,” said Mary of her intentions. “Giving them a second chance, whether they be young or old. You have some people give up in life. I was one of those women who gave up, and I just want to be one of those women to reach out and show women that if I can do it, we all can do it.”
MJB also provided an update on the status of the oft-delayed Nina Simone biopic in which she stars. “They keep pushing it back. It’s not my fault. I’m ready,” she told hosts Kathie Lee and Hoda Kotb. “I went to the acting class, I learned ‘Ne Me Quitte Pas.’ I know all French, whatever—so I’m doing my job.” SOURCE
