ARETHA FRANKLIN ON THE VIEW!

(Gossip On This) - This past Thursday, a noticeably slimmer Aretha Franklin stopped by the set of ABC’s “The View” to promote her new album, "A Woman Falling Out of Love".

The legendary Queen of Soul would not discuss the surgery she underwent five months ago, but did insist that she’s “feeling wonderful and fabulous.

The Queen went on to state that while her 85-pound weight loss is the by-product of the surgery she underwent, she emphasized that “it was not Bariatric surgery and that she’s adopted better eating habits since the procedure.

ARETHA FRANKLIN TURNS 69!

A Happy Birthday to the Queen of Soul who turned 69 yesterday! A lavish party was held in her honor in New York City late Friday night – where Bette Midler, Smokey Robinson and Tony Bennett topped the guest list – revelers joined Dennis Edwards of The Temptations in wishing her well with a personalized version of "My Girl."

It went a little something like this: "I guess … you'll say … what can make me feel this way …. Aretha, Aretha, Aretha ..." And then the woman of the hour took the mic.


As guests screamed and applauded, the slimmed-down Franklin sang with Edwards for the delighted crowd, and then showed off some dance moves while blowing out the candles on her two-tier, flower-covered birthday cake. The song for that part of the evening? "Respect," of course.

Since everyone seems to be paying homage to the Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin I decided I would also.

I grew up on Aretha's music, my Mother loves old Motown music and this is what was played. I love all of her music and even the covers of other peoples music are FANTASTIC!! This Woman is a legend - this is a prime example of someone who deserves to be called a Legend and an Icon.

ARETHA FRANKLIN LOVES R KELLY!!

Despite a health scare, Aretha Franklin is doing “superb” these days. So well that she has thoughts about making a move on R. Kelly.

The Queen of Soul checked in with Wendy Williams on Wednesday’s show where she sang the Pied Piper’s praises. “Do you love the song that R. Kelly just recorded, ‘When a Woman Loves’?” she asked the talk show host of the single from Kellz’ latest album Love Letter. “I think any woman that’s ever been in love will readily relate to that song. He is singing that song. I mean he is singing his heart and his soul out.”

Kellz had her head over heels in love with his tender tune. “You know if he isn’t careful, I might become a cougar,” warned the 68-year-old Detroit native.


During her revealing chat with Wendy, Aretha also confirmed that she is working on a biopic and is hoping to have an Oscar-winning actress play her. “Halle Berry is my pick,” she shared.

ARETHA FRANKLIN HEALTH ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED!!

Aretha Franklin has granted another brief interview about her unspecified illness that required surgery last month, telling JET magazine that the health problem, while still undisclosed, "has been resolved."

"I am not one to do a lot of talking about my personal health or business," says the 68-year-old singer, who won't confirm rumors that she was treated for pancreatic cancer. "I don't have to talk about my health with anybody other than my doctors. The problem has been resolved."

Franklin says that she felt "a very hard pain in my side" during a concert in Toronto last year, and that she believed that the pain had resulted from a recent colonoscopy. "I got up at 2 o'clock in the morning and called the doctor who did the colonoscopy and told him what was happening," she says. "He said, 'Miss Franklin, whatever it is, it is not from the colonoscopy. You need to come home and have a CAT-scan.' Thank God he said that because that unfolded everything, what the problem was and everything."

Franklin underwent surgery at a Detroit hospital in early December and was discharged on Dec. 15. The singer canceled all of her concerts through spring 2011 and was told to rest at home for eight weeks following the surgery.

The famously private Franklin told JET that she wanted to use the most recent interview to update her fans and express her gratitude for their support. "I know my fans are concerned," she says. "Let them know I am feeling great and coming along."   

ANNIE LENNOX SAYS ARETHA FRANKLIN " GREATEST SINGER OF ALL TIME!!

Annie Lennox thinks Aretha Franklin is the world's greatest singer.

The 'Universal Child' hitmaker says there are many impressive female vocalists working at the moment but none can compare with US soul legend Aretha -who has recently been hospitalised, but said to be recovering well.

When asked about the greatest singer of all time, Annie said: "Aretha Franklin - But there are many, and all different.

"Whatever you feel about Mariah Carey, when you hear her sing, oh my God! I've never heard a voice like that! Whitney Houston is another incredible singer, Shakira, Beyonce, all these girls."

Annie has released an album of traditional Christmas songs for charity and loves the idea that her music will live on forever.

She told radio station Magic 105.4: "When I record something it's there forever and that's such a lovely feeling.

"Carols have such potential for power and passion. Singing is an energetic thing and I enter fully into that song."

The former Eurythmics singer said becoming a mother inspired her to do more charity work, and she is now happy to devote much of her time to helping others.

She explained: "I was always an empathetic person but until I had kids I don't think I knew much. I don't want to be a person that just does nothing." SOURCE

Prayers For Aretha Franklin

Aretha Franklin, 68 has been said to be recovering from surgery to treat pancreatic cancer according to media in her home city of Detroit, Michigan. The singer recently announced that she was cancelling all upcoming  shows until next May on advice from her doctor, but the cause of her illness was not disclosed.

Long-time friend Rev Jesse Jackson has been quoted saying:

“recovering very well” and was in high spirits. “She’s conscious, communicating and taking daily walks up and down the hall,” he said.

Let's all pray for this lady, she is a living legend and we must protect those as best we can. Judging by the music that is coming out today - people with real talent like Ms Franklin, are literally a dieing breed.
