NICKI MINAJ SIGNS WITH NEW LABEL!

It was reported yesterday that Nicki Minaj has parted ways with Diddy and James Cruz and is now under the management of "Hip Hop Since 1978"

'XXL Magazine' states that sources close to Nicki Minaj confirm the move and reveal that Minaj was disappointed when Diddy wasn't as "hands-on with her career" as she was under the impression would happen.

Hip Hop Since 1978 works with Kanye West, Young Jeezy, and Just Blaze. Lil Wayne and Drake, are co-managed by Cortez Bryant (Bryant Managent) and Gee Roberson (HHS1978).

Maybe this is the rigt move for Nicki to give her career the jump start it needs.

GAGA, WILLOW AND KANYE WEST WIN BIG AT "MTV O AWARDS"

(Billboard) - Lady Gaga emerged as the clear winner of MTV's inaugural O Awards, an awards show designed to fete all things digital music related. The event was streamed online Thursday (April 28) night from Las Vegas.


Lady Gaga won the prize for Most Innovative Artist and Must Follow Artist on Twitter, two of the more high-profile categories of the event. Other artists walking away with awards included Kanye West (Best Tweet), 30 Seconds to Mars (Best NSFW Music Video), and Willow Smith (Most Viral Dance).
Winners were selected via online and social media voting. MTV says more than three million votes were cast through online, social media and mobile platforms.

Previous to the awards show, MTV issued awards for Most Innovative Music Video, Favorite F**k Yeah Tumblr, Favorite Animated Gif, and Best Hack, which went to Andy Grammar, Fuck Yeah Adam Lambert, Nicki Minaj's "Gum Twirl" and Invisible Instruments, respectively. Awards yet to be given include that for Best Music Hashtag, Best Remix and Best iTunes LP.

BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS GO PINK AND GREEN!

(Rap-Up) - The Billboard Music Awards are going to be a few shades of pink and green. Nicki Minaj and Cee Lo Green have been tapped to perform at the revived ceremony, airing live from Las Vegas on May 22 on ABC.

The “Super Bass” rapper is nominated for four awards this year including Top New Artist, Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Album, and Top R&B Song for Trey Songz’ “Bottoms Up.” Although not a nominee, the “F**k You” singer will take the stage at the MGM Grand to perform one of his Lady Killer cuts.

Additional performers include Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Black Eyed Peas, and Pitbull. Comedian Ken Jeong will host the event, which marks its return for the first time in five years.

NICKI MINAJ TO OPEN FOR BRITNEY'S FEMME FATALE TOUR!

After much speculation that the void created when Enrique Iglesias stepped down from opening duties on Britney Spears‘ Femme Fatale tour would be filled by current hip-hop queen bee Nicki Minaj, the partnership now appears to be confirmed. Enrique Iglesias’ ego couldn’t handle opening for Britney and Nicki might be the right choice here and although Im not a fan I think it's a good thing - especially if it means seeing a dead-eyed Britney struggling to stay upright while receiving one of Minaj’s now-signature lapdances!!

I was actually stanning a bit for Britney before the Album launched but then I heard the whole thing and to be honest - I dont really like it. Too much autotune and not enough talent anymore. THEN I saw her on GMA and was appalled at the sight of her trying to dance but she was an EPIC FAIL!

The Femme Fatale tour kicks off in Sacramento, CA on June 17th and encompasses 26 dates nationwide.

NICKI MINAJ TO TOUR WITH BRITNEY SPEARS??

Hold onto your wigs. Nicki Minaj may be heading out on the road with Britney Spears. The Young Money diva is said to be in negotiations to open for the pop queen’s summer tour.

According to reports that Spears has eyed Minaj as her opening act for the upcoming North American trek. Lawyers for the two stars are in “serious talks.”

Sources say that things are looking very good and that they should reach an agreement in the next day or so. The raptress would replace Enrique Iglesias, who pulled out of Spears’ tour at the last minute.


Nicki is currently traveling the country with Lil Wayne on his “I Am Music II” tour, which wraps April 28. Britney’s tour is scheduled to begin on June 17.

NICKI MINAJ X's X FACTOR

X does not mark the spot for Nicki Minaj. The Young Money rapper will not be appearing as a judge on Simon Cowell’s singing competition “The X Factor.”

Page Six previously reported that Cowell was in discussions with the Harajuku Barbie to join the judging panel on the show’s upcoming U.S. edition, along with former Island Def Jam CEO L.A. Reid.


Sources connected to Minaj tell TMZ that she won’t be taking on the gig, saying, “There’s nothing going on with 'X Factor'.”


Cowell admitted to reporters that many of the names rumored to be in talks, including Jessica Simpson and Paula Abdul, were likely leaked from his own company to stir up buzz for the show, which premieres this fall on Fox.


Mariah Carey’s name was among those in the mix, but those reports have been denied. However, the pop songbird may play a role during live shows.

NICKI MINAJ ON AMERICAN X FACTOR??

After conquering the charts, Nicki Minaj’s next frontier may be television. The Young Money raptress is reportedly in talks with Simon Cowell to be a judge on the U.S. edition of his talent competition “The X Factor.”

The Harajuku Barbie met with Cowell in Los Angeles a few weeks ago, according to Page Six. “Simon thinks Nicki is fantastic. She’s sassy, she looks great, and she has bags of personality,” says a source.
The hip-hop diva’s casting as a judge would help the show appeal to a younger and more diverse audience. “Nicki has a large following and she fits well with the ethos of the show, which plans to usher in a new generation of musical talent,” adds the source. “‘X Factor’ is aiming for a younger audience. Those aged 12 and over can audition, and [the English version has] launched successful artists from other genres of music than pop.”

She is currently touring the country with Lil Wayne and nothing has been finalized. “This isn’t a done deal yet, but Nicki would be great for the show. She fits the ideal that ‘X Factor’ will be exciting, vibrant, and different. And the show would also be great for her career.”
Former Island Def Jam CEO and Chairman L.A. Reid was officially announced as one of the judges for the singing competition, set to premiere this fall on Fox.

Sales Figures: Nicki Minaj Nabs The #1 Spot After 11 Weeks

Nicki Minaj has achieved an incredibly rare feat on the Billboard 200 chart. The rapper’s ‘Pink Friday’ has finally managed to claim the #1 spot in its 11th week on the tally on the tally after debuting at #2 when released on November 22nd.

Although ‘Pink Friday’ climbed to the chart’s summit with only 45k copies sold, the record performed well enough to surpass the 1 million sales mark. Hence, while the Minaj was award a platinum certification on December 17th for moving over 1 million units in shippers, she has now officially sold that figure at retail outlets.

Other acts making moves on the charts this week include Bruno Mars whose ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ climbs to #4 with 32k copies sold (down 3%) while Rihanna’s ‘Loud’ LP rebounds 8 spots from #13 to #5 13-5 by selling 29k (up 15%).  Rounding out the top 10 of the album chart are P!nk’s ‘Greatest Hits … So Far!!!’ reenters the top 10 at #9 with 25k in sales (down 6%) and Eminem’s ‘Recovery’ rises from #12 to #10, selling 25k copies (up 18%).

Finally, Chris Brown’s ‘Look At Me Now’ debuts on the Digital Songs chart with 158k downloads (his highest entry since ‘No Air’ with Jordin Sparks which sold 153k in 2008).

CHART NEWS - WHERE'S YOUR FAV AT?

Nicki Minaj continues her winning streak as "Pink Friday" picks up a second week atop R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Despite dropping 17% to 32,000 copies, Minaj fends off Rihanna's "Loud" which steps 3-2 in its ninth week.

Kanye West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" returns to the top three after a five-week absence moving 25,000 copies. According to Nielsen BDS, the set has shifted 941,000 copies since its Nov. 22, 2010, release date.

Eminem's "Recovery" falls 2-4 in its 31st week on the chart with the album residing in the top five for all but four of those. That 27-week run is the longest since The Black Eyed Peas' "The E.N.D." posted 41 top five weeks in 2009.

R. Kelly's "Love Letter" (5-5), Jamie Foxx's "Best Night of My Life" (6-6), and T.I.'s "No Mercy" (7-7) all stay put at the last week positions with 18,000, 17,000, and 15,000 copies sold, respectively.

Keyshia Cole's "Calling All Hearts" steps up 9-8 in its fourth week while Lil Wayne's "I Am Not A Human Being" reenters the top 10 jumping 11-9. It is the latter album's 12th week in the top 10.

Rounding out the top 10 is Michael Jackson's "Michael" slipping 8-10 with a 36% decline to 11,000 copies in its fifth week on the chart. For comparison's sake, 2009's "Michael Jackson's This Is It" soundtrack was at No. 2 in its fifth week after spending three frames at the top (the album debuted at No. 100 due to street date violations).

Two new albums grace the chart this week - Los Angeles rapper Schoolboy Q's debut "Setbacks" opens at No. 25 with 4,000 copies and The Jacka's eighth title on the chart "Flight Risk" bows at No. 70 with 1,000 copies.

On R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Trey Songz's "Can't Be Friends" ties Alicia Keys' "Un-Thinkable (I'm Ready)" with 12 weeks atop the chart, the longest No. 1 run since Maxwell's "Pretty Wings" spent 14 weeks atop the chart in 2009.

With Rihanna's "What's My Name?," featuring Drake (2-2), and Rick Ross' "Aston Martin Music," featuring Drake and Chrisette Michele (3-3), staying put, Chris Brown's "No BS" (5-4) looks like the most formidable contender to overtake Songz.

Waka Flocka Flame's "No Hands," featuring Roscoe Dash and Wale, continues to slide moving 4-5 this week while Keri Hilson's "Pretty Girl Rock" jumps 10-6 in its 11th week.

Jamie Foxx enters the top 10 for the first time since "Blame It" spent 14 weeks atop the chart in 2009 with "Fall For Your Type," featuring Drake, jumping 11-7.

That brings Drake's total top 10 songs this week to three and if Nicki Minaj's "Moment For Life" (15-11) breaks into the upper tier next week, make it four.

Lloyd's "Lay It Down" slips 7-8 this while Twista's "Make A Movie" featuring Chris Brown, falls 6-9 this week.

Wiz Khalifa's "Black and Yellow" closes out the top 10 moving 9-10. As big a record as it is, "Black and Yellow" has not passed its No. 9 peak first reached Jan. 1, 2011.

There were a number of new additions to R&B/Hip-Hop Songs this week as radio stations began to alter their playlists once again after the holiday season. Most notably, Chris Brown's rap song "Look At Me Now," featuring Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne, debuts at No. 62, Melanie Fiona's "Gone and Never Coming Back" opens at No. 84, and Alicia Keys' tribute to her and Swizz Beatz son "Speechless," featuring Eve, bows at No. 99.

Sales Figures: Album Sales Hit All-Time Low

A record was broken this week on the Billboard 200 but it’s not the type of feat that artists would hope to achieve. With album sales continuing their downward spiral, even the music industry’s reigning chart titan, Taylor Swift, couldn’t make a big enough impact to save the day.

Swift’s triple platinum ‘Speak Now’ LP continues to dominate the charts in the #1 spot but with only 52k copies sold, the album holds the distinction of having the lowest sales for a #1 album since Nielsen SoundScan began compiling album sales in 1991. The previous record holder was 2007’s ‘Dreamgirls’ soundtrack which hit #1 with 60k units.

Still, some artists may find reasons to smile this week. Nicki Minaj’s platinum-certified ‘Pink Friday’ album ascends to the #2 spot with sales of 39k (down 36%) while Eminem’s ‘Recovery’ maintains a position in the top tier at #5, selling 33k (down 47%).

Furthermore, Rihanna’s ‘Loud’ has yet to be silenced despite slipping 3 spots to #6 with sales of 33k  (down 46%) and Kanye West’s ’My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ drops 2 places to #7 with 33k units sold (down 43%). Hopefully, whenBeyonce, Lady GaGa and Britney Spears release their albums later this year, album sales will experience an upturn.

Holiday shoppers rushed home with new releases from Jamie Foxx, Keyshia Cole, and Keri Hilson. The R&B artists had the registers and charts ringing during Christmas week.

Jamie Foxx’s third album Best Night of My Life stuffed many a stocking and debuts at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 with 144,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The Oscar winner’s previous effort, 2008’s Intuition, entered at No. 3 with 265,000, while his J Records debut Unpredictablecame in at No. 2 with 598,000 in 2005.

Keyshia Cole had Christmas shoppers Calling All Hearts as her fourth album claims the week’s second biggest debut, arriving at No. 9 with 128,000. However, she couldn’t outperform 2008’s A Different Me, which made its entry at No. 2 with 322,000.

Taylor Swift’s Speak Now closes out the year at No. 1 with 276,000, followed by Susan Boyle’s The Gift which keeps giving at No. 2 (240,000).
