MARIAH & NICK REVEAL BABIES NAMES

Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon have finally revealed the names of their twins who were born in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Their son is named Moroccan Scott Cannon. Scott is Nick’s middle name, as well as his grandmother’s maiden name.

The top tier of Mariah’s New York City apartment is called the Moroccan Room, because of the Moroccan-inspired decor. It’s also the place where Nick proposed to his wife, overlooking Manhattan!

Their daughter’s name is Monroe Cannon. Mariah's rep says she does not have a middle name because Mariah herself does not have one. Monroe was named after Marilyn Monroe, who has been an inspiration to Mariah her whole life.

In fact, Mariah purchased the Hollywood icon’s white piano from Christie's auction house and it is in Mariah’s will that the piano will one day go to the Smithsonian.

Mariah’s rep, Cindi Berger, tells CNN, “It has been a long, emotional journey for this family, and I couldn’t be happier for all of them.” (SOURCE)

MARIAH CAREY GIVES BIRTH AT LAST !!!!!!!

NEW YORK — Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated their fourth anniversary with another milestone – becoming parents to a baby girl and boy.
Carey's representative, Cindi Berger, confirmed the births to The Associated Press. The singing superstar gave birth Saturday at 12:07 p.m. EDT at an undisclosed hospital in Los Angeles. Berger says the baby girl was born first, weighing 5 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 18 inches long; her brother was next, at 5 pounds 6 ounces, and was 19 inches.
Berger says the couple has not named the children yet. Cannon drove Carey to the hospital in their Rolls-Royce Phantom. Berger said the 41-year-old Carey, who had gone through false labor, was calm, thinking that it was another false alarm.
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old Cannon was so nervous he went to the wrong department at the hospital, and was guided to the maternity ward by a nurse.
"It was like right out of an 'I Love Lucy' skit," said Berger.
Berger says they were listening to Carey's "We Belong Together" after the children were born.

The couple are expected to renew their wedding vows on Sunday. The pair got married in 2007 after a whirlwind romance. They were the subject of endless baby rumors, and the couple actually were expecting shortly after their marriage, but Carey had a miscarriage; they did not reveal the miscarriage until she announced her pregnancy last fall.

The couple plan to live a bi-coastal life, and have luxurious nurseries in both New York and Los Angeles.

MARIAH SHOWS OFF $100,000 NURSERY

Not too long ago Mariah and Nick were featured on the cover of Life & Style magazine naked, and now Mariah is back showing off her babies’ new $100,000 nursery in their Bel-Air, Calif., estate. 

She tells the magazine:

“I wanted to create a beautiful, tranquil, cozy environment for the babies. Everything matches, but pieces are individualized to celebrate the twins as separate entities. [It was challenging] because I had such specific ideas I wanted implemented. I feel like I’m bringing two individuals into the world, so I wanted to do more than cookie-cutter styles in blue and pink.”
“The ceiling has orangey-pink clouds in a blue sky with golden stars twinkling. It’s based on two songs I wrote that are fan favorites: Underneath the Stars and Close My Eyes. Sometimes I just sit in the nursery and stare at the ceiling because I love it so much. To me, it symbolizes wanting my children to dream as big as possible and to let their imaginations be unbridled.”
Being a mother is probably the hardest job in the world. I feel like, in a lot of ways, children come into the world to teach us. It’s going to be a delicate balance between raising them around glitz and glamour and keeping them grounded. One thing I’m sure of is that I’ll be grateful for the twins every day, no matter what.”

X does not mark the spot for Nicki Minaj. The Young Money rapper will not be appearing as a judge on Simon Cowell’s singing competition “The X Factor.”

Page Six previously reported that Cowell was in discussions with the Harajuku Barbie to join the judging panel on the show’s upcoming U.S. edition, along with former Island Def Jam CEO L.A. Reid.


Sources connected to Minaj tell TMZ that she won’t be taking on the gig, saying, “There’s nothing going on with 'X Factor'.”


Cowell admitted to reporters that many of the names rumored to be in talks, including Jessica Simpson and Paula Abdul, were likely leaked from his own company to stir up buzz for the show, which premieres this fall on Fox.


Mariah Carey’s name was among those in the mix, but those reports have been denied. However, the pop songbird may play a role during live shows.

MARIAH CAREYS "PINK & BLUE" BABY SHOWER

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated the impending birth of their twins with a lavish baby shower held over the weekend in Beverly Hills.


The happy couple arrived to the Conservatory Grill at the Montage Hotel in a black Rolls-Royce, given from Cannon to Mimi as a Christmas gift, reports PEOPLE. Guests including Randy Jackson dined at cocktail tables decorated with pink roses and blue hydrangeas, colors representing the genders of their expected boy and girl babies.


After the evening event, the mom-to-be posted a blog thanking all of her guests for attending. “Thank you SO much to all who came to the baby shower last night and all who couldn’t be there but sent such beautiful presents and sweet messages!” wrote the dashing diva, who was presented with an “Always Be My Babies” Lamb book from her fans.


“FYI-we so had a ‘moment’ in the middle of the shower when they presented the book to me and everyone thought it was the cutest, most thoughtful thing ever! Clearly, only the Lambs would swing something like that home!!!” she continued. “It was the best moment of the night. I can’t wait for the twins to read the messages and feel the love!!!”

USHER TROUBLED OVER GADHAFI CONCERT LINK

Usher said Friday he's "sincerely troubled" to learn he appeared at a  concert in St. Bart's linked to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi's family and plans to donate his concert fee to human rights organizations.

Earlier this week, Mariah Carey, Beyonce and Nelly Furtado all renounced their performances at private concerts later revealed to be linked to the family of Gadhafi, whose country is openly revolting against him and who faces an investigation for possible war crimes.

All the singers have promised to give their fees to charity or said they have already done so.

Usher did not perform but was paid to appear at the private concert featuring Beyonce in 2009.

"I am sincerely troubled to learn about the circumstances surrounding the Nikki Beach St. Bart's event that took place on New Year's Eve 2009, " he said in a statement released to The Associated Press.

"I will be donating all of my personal proceeds from that event to various human rights organizations."

The statement said Usher made a contribution Friday to Amnesty International, which the organization confirmed. The group said Usher requested the donation amount be private.

"Amnesty International activists are working globally to press the international community to support Middle East activists ... Usher's donation will support this urgent work to counter the brutal conditions like those imposed by Gadhafi and other leaders across the Middle East," a statement from the organization said.

Since the uprising in Libya, attention has focused on entertainers paid by the Gadhafi family for private concerts. Furtado acknowledged getting $1 million which she promised to give to charity.

Beyonce said she donated her fees for to Haiti earthquake relief once she discovered the Gadhafi link.

Carey said she was unaware of whom she was performing for and "embarrassed." She announced she will donate royalties for the song "Save the Day," which she has written for her upcoming album, to charities that create awareness for human-rights issues.

After coming under fire for accepting money from private performances for Muammar Gadhafi, Mariah Carey is speaking out. The pop diva has admitted that she was unaware that she lent her talents to a gig funded by the Libyan dictator, and that she is embarrassed to be linked to him.

“I was naive and unaware of who I was booked to perform for. I feel horrible and embarrassed to have participated in this mess,” the pregnant songbird said in a statement to AP. “Going forward, this is a lesson for all artists to learn from. We need to be more aware and take more responsibility regardless of who books our shows. Ultimately, we as artists are to be held accountable.”
Mimi sang for the Gadhafi clan back in 2008 in St. Barts, and while she didn’t disclose how much she accepted for the performance, she asserts that she has donated millions to charity throughout the years. Her representative explained that to make up for the controversial show, she will donate royalties earned from her upcoming song “Save the Day” to charities to create awareness for human rights issues.
“Mariah has and continues to donate her time, money, and countless hours of personal service to many organizations both here and abroad,” said her publicist Cindi Berger.
Mariah is the latest to speak out regarding the criticisms in performing for Gadhafi. Yesterday, Beyoncé revealed that she already donated money made from her private performance, while Nelly Furtado pledged to donate her paycheck earlier this week.

NELLY FURTADO & BEYONCE DONATE MONEY EARNED FROM GADHAFI TO CHARITY

Nelly Furtado made headlines earlier this week after announcing that she would donate the $1 million she received from a private performance for Muammar Gadhafi. But Beyoncé, who also entertained the Libyan dictator in 2009, already beat her to it.

The international superstar, who has come under fire alongside Mariah Carey and Usher for being hired by Gadhafi in the past, revealed that she donated all of the money earned from the gig to helping the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.


“All monies paid to Beyoncé for her performance at a private party at Nikki Beach St. Barts on New Year’s Eve 2009, including the commissions paid to her booking agency, were donated to the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti, over a year ago,” said the singer’s rep in a statement to CNN. “Once it became known that the third party promoter was linked to the Qaddafi family, the decision was made to put that payment to a good cause.”

Now i was feeling a little down when i saw someone tweet out the lyrics to this song..it instanly reminded me of it and i searched through my mariah discograpy in my music library and found it..this song is a gospel themed motivational song that just inspires you.

Make it happen ,make it happen she sings.. Simply saying that it you want to achieve something just get off your butt and make and effort.. This song just reminds us of a time when music was not only great but had substance and meaning ..how many twenty something year old singers today would write a song like this ? And even if they do radio sleeps on the record.. 'Sigh' mariah was in 20s when she wrote this and it is/was one of the biggest hits of her career..

Mariah Carey & Jermaine Dupri to record new ‘Philanthropic’ effort…

Pop legend Mariah Carey will co-write a collaborative effort with her long term pal and producer Jermaine Dupri. The meaningful expressive track will be put together over the weekend in a Los Angeles-based recording studio. The inspiration for the song comes from Points of Light Institute, the largest enabler of voluntary action in the nation.

The purpose of the song will be to celebrate the power of communities and to inspire positive change in the world. “There’s a lot happening in the world right now. We hope tocreate something special with other great musicians that moves people and can make them understand they CAN do something positive to make their lives and the world better” says Dupri.

Christina Aguilera to Sing National Anthem at Super Bowl

Christina Aguilera will sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl in Texas on Feb. 6, the NFL and Fox announced Monday (Jan. 24).

The five-time Grammy award winning singer will be making an encore at the NFL championship. She was part of the halftime show during the 2000 Super Bowl.

ANNIE LENNOX SAYS ARETHA FRANKLIN " GREATEST SINGER OF ALL TIME!!

Annie Lennox thinks Aretha Franklin is the world's greatest singer.

The 'Universal Child' hitmaker says there are many impressive female vocalists working at the moment but none can compare with US soul legend Aretha -who has recently been hospitalised, but said to be recovering well.

When asked about the greatest singer of all time, Annie said: "Aretha Franklin - But there are many, and all different.

"Whatever you feel about Mariah Carey, when you hear her sing, oh my God! I've never heard a voice like that! Whitney Houston is another incredible singer, Shakira, Beyonce, all these girls."

Annie has released an album of traditional Christmas songs for charity and loves the idea that her music will live on forever.

She told radio station Magic 105.4: "When I record something it's there forever and that's such a lovely feeling.

"Carols have such potential for power and passion. Singing is an energetic thing and I enter fully into that song."

The former Eurythmics singer said becoming a mother inspired her to do more charity work, and she is now happy to devote much of her time to helping others.
