So i happened to stumble on this..and even though it happened years ago this was my first time coming across it..i commend oprah for honoring all this monumental women of color but diminishing or belittling the achievements and legacies of others whiles doing so was not the way to go..i understand the need to put people like Maya Angelou, Shirley Caesar, Diahann Carroll, Elizabeth Catlett, Ruby Dee, Katherine Dunham, Roberta Flack, Aretha Franklin, Nikki Giovanni, Dorothy Height, Lena Horne, Coretta Scott King, , Toni Morrison, Rosa Parks, Leontyne Price, Della Reese, Diana Ross, Melba Moore, Naomi Sims,, Cicely Tyson, Alice Walker, , and Nancy Wilson. in very high esteem but if you add

Dionne Warwick, Patti LaBelle,Gladys Knight, Tina Turner to the list very monumentally influential women i may add then why would you leave out Janet and Mariah and class them among Alicia Keys, Ashanti, , Mary J. Blige, Brandy, Missy Elliott, Tyra Banks, Iman,Phylicia Rashad, Debbie Allen and Alfre Woodard, most of whom janet paved the way for was just plain disrespectful and if i were janet i woulda turned down the invitation (but we all know janet's too nice to refuse )

BRANDY STARSTRUCK BY MICHAEL JACKSON MEETING!

Sometimes celebrities get starstruck too — just ask Brandy. In the latest episode of "When I Was 17," the singer-turned-reality starlet opens up about meeting Michael Jackson, thanks to producer Rodney Jerkins.

"When I was 17, my producer Rodney Jerkins was working with Michael Jackson at the time," Brandy says in the episode, premiering Saturday at 11 a.m. ET on MTV. "He knew how much I wanted to meet Michael Jackson, so he says, 'Would you like to come and meet him?' I'm like, 'Are you serious? Of course I want to meet Michael Jackson! Where do I meet you? Where do we come?' "

And it wasn't just Jerkins who knew about the singer's admiration for Jackson. "Michael Jackson was it, so we studied Michael. Brandy studied Michael," her brother Ray J says.
Brandy says the super-producer orchestrated the meeting between the siblings and Jackson at the recording studio. However, prior to entering the room, Brandy says nerves got the best of her.
"My heart is beating so fast at this point," the "Dancing With the Stars" alum recalls. "I'm like, 'Oh my God. It's happening. We're about to open the door and he's going to be in there.' "

Ray J, who was equally excited, peeped around the room, saying, "When we first walked into the studio, we can kind of see Michael in the corner and we looked at each other like, 'Did you see him?' " Unfortunately, Brandy, couldn't maintain the same type as composure. "And I'm looking at him like, 'Oh my God. This is Michael Jackson,' " adding, "I fainted, blacked out — like seriously blacked out."

BRANDY SERVES UP SUPPER TO THE HOMELESS!!

Everyone deserves a good meal at Christmas. Brandy helped make it a merry Christmas for the homeless at the Los Angeles Mission on Christmas Eve. The “Dancing with the Stars” contestant, who will announce a new record deal in the new year, put on a red apron and served mashed potatoes alongside “The Hills” star Stephanie Pratt and host Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Her daughter Sy’rai had quite a lofty wish list for Christmas this year after finding out the truth about Santa Claus. “I got her list, and it is ridiculous. When she believed in Santa, she had a smaller list. But now that she knows I’m Santa Claus, she went crazy,” said Brandy. “Now, she wants a BlackBerry and an iPhone 4. It’s like, ‘Little girl, you are eight, and you’re asking for a BlackBerry?’”

Tonight on Dancing with the Stars Brandy and Maks we're in top form!! They first danced the Waltz - it was beautiful and they flowed perfectly together, these two have awesome chemistry and play against each other in such a lovely way.

They did something new tonight - Instant Dance, the dancers and stars practiced their dance without the song, after their first dance tonight they picked a song from the Mirror Ball Bowl and then they were to go and put their dance to the music. Ummm hard!!! WOW, I couldn't imagine having to do that!

There are only five stars left dancing - I can almost guess who is going home tomorrow night but Ill keep my thoughts on that to myself ...

Brandy Has Gone UPSCALE!

The lovely Miss Brandy Norwood will lend her beauty to the Cover of the November\December issue of Upscale Magazine - she talks about "Dancing With The Stars", Motherhood, her TV Show and more!

Brandy spoke about the fatal car accident she was involved in back in 2007 -
"People call me a murderer, they taunt me and send pictures of cars that are basically annihilated. Every report has stated that I was not at fault. People still don't care," she says

She also mentions a new studio album - Brandy says she is hoping to move forward once her new album comes out. The album's producer, Bangladesh, recently spoke with Singersroom.com about the album saying they hope to reconnect with her fans.
Bangladesh - "I guess people's attention spans are short now, and she comes from an era where music was more organic and everybody had their own sound, people were doing different things and albums were selling."
