Nicki Minaj has achieved an incredibly rare feat on the Billboard 200 chart. The rapper’s ‘Pink Friday’ has finally managed to claim the #1 spot in its 11th week on the tally on the tally after debuting at #2 when released on November 22nd.
Although ‘Pink Friday’ climbed to the chart’s summit with only 45k copies sold, the record performed well enough to surpass the 1 million sales mark. Hence, while the Minaj was award a platinum certification on December 17th for moving over 1 million units in shippers, she has now officially sold that figure at retail outlets.
Other acts making moves on the charts this week include Bruno Mars whose ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ climbs to #4 with 32k copies sold (down 3%) while Rihanna’s ‘Loud’ LP rebounds 8 spots from #13 to #5 13-5 by selling 29k (up 15%). Rounding out the top 10 of the album chart are P!nk’s ‘Greatest Hits … So Far!!!’ reenters the top 10 at #9 with 25k in sales (down 6%) and Eminem’s ‘Recovery’ rises from #12 to #10, selling 25k copies (up 18%).
Finally, Chris Brown’s ‘Look At Me Now’ debuts on the Digital Songs chart with 158k downloads (his highest entry since ‘No Air’ with Jordin Sparks which sold 153k in 2008).
