DAVID COOK RECORDS IDOL EXIT SONG!

"American Idol" is about to undergo its first audience-determined eliminations of Season 10, and starting next week, the show will have a new exit song as former hopefuls bid farewell to the competition. This year's soundtrack to dreams cut short? The Simple Minds classic "Don't You (Forget About Me)" sung by "Idol's" own David Cook.

The Season 7 winner's reverential version of the 1985 hit, which was also the de facto theme song to the movie "The Breakfast Club," was recorded in February and chosen by "Idol" creator and executive producer Simon Fuller. Fans who preorder Cook's forthcoming second album can access the track for free starting Thursday via DavidCookOfficial.com. It will also be available for sale on iTunes and other digital retailers March 8.

DAVID COOK TALKS NEW ALBUM

David Cook spoke about his new album, the upcoming season of American Idol and more with PopStop TV on the red carpet of the The Griddle Cafe’s Red Velvet Pancake Mix Launch in Los Angeles Thursday night (Jan. 13).

On finishing up his long-awaited next album, David says they’re finishing tracking this month, with mixing and mastering to follow.

Although the album has no release date yet, David says to look for the new CD between March and May.
