She may not have been voted the next American Idol, but Crystal Bowersox came pretty close – and continues to prove that her runner-up status won’t deter her from a promising career. Despite a folksier, coffeeshop vibe on Fox’s star-making machine of a TV show, Bowersox is heavily leaning country for her debut album, out December 14. Last night, Lee DeWyze’s one-time nemesis crooned the title track on The Tonight Show — and yes, “Farmer’s Daughter,” complete with Bowersox’s twangy delivery, is so appropriately named she might as well have been milking a cow on stage while singing.
