The Voice - My Thoughts

Last night I was torn - should I watch Glee, which I have been faithful to since my good friend Melanie made me watch part way through the second series, Dancing With The Stars, which I rarely ever miss or The Voice - I watched the new NBC series "The Voice" - hosted by Carson Daily. There are 4 Judges,  Christina Aguleria, Adam Levine, Cee Lo and Blake Shelton. They all have very different things to bring to the table.
The rules are as follows - The Voice hopefuls begin with blind singing auditions, where they are judged solely on their vocal ability. With their backs turned to contestants, the panel first decides whether they like an audition performance by pressing a button and then claiming him or her as one of their students. If more than one judge likes a contender, the contestant decides which star they'd like to be his or her judge. If no button is hit, then the auditioner is sent home.
Once they have each chosen eight contestants, the panel will train their teams for battle rounds. Eventually, the teammates will also be competing with each other, as the judges cut their crews in half. Viewers at home will have the final say in choosing the show's winner during a live round, with the champion taking home $100,000 and a record deal with Universal Republic.
Unlike American Idol The Voice" saw an audition by a duo. Elenowen, a Nashville-based married couple who live in the wife's parents' basement, covered Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová's "Falling Slowly" and quickly secured a spot on Shelton's team.
I have to say, this show is refreshingly fair. I love the whole "Backs Turned To The Singer" thing. It definitely takes away from "You Dont Have The Look" thing that Simon Cowell lived for and opens the door for everyone no matter what you look like. Hopefully in the Vote Off stage of this it's done fairly and not because - now that they know what they look like and can get rid of them. Every last person that got through last night was awesome and totally deserve to be there!
One of my Fav's from last nights opening show ~

Did you watch The Voice? What did you think?
