Every few years or so since his death, someone attempts to produce a movie based on the life of slain R&B legend Marvin Gaye.

This time, it’s director Julien Temple who wants to take on the task, and he may have the backing of Marvin’s record label, which is a good sign.

Marvin’s ex-wife, Janice Gaye, said she’s skeptical about the project.

“There is always that inevitable anxiety of people making a movie so that you can found out why [Marvin] was shot. That question always comes up—‘let’s dig into this and find out why Marvin’s father shot him.’ None of us will ever know that because all of the players in that horrible scene are dead,” she told EURweb.

The film is tentatively titled Sexual Healing. (s2smagazine)
