"NO DOUBT" RECORDING NEW ALBUM!

No Doubt entered the studio Monday (Jan. 3) to begin recording its first album in nearly 10 years, according to updates on the band's official Twitter account.

"Holidays over. 2010 done. 10 new songs written. No Doubt's 2011 New Year's resolution: to record our new album... beginning today!" wrote guitarist Tom Dumont.

After some confusion on the band's official message board about studio work that took place in 2010, Dumont took to the fan forum to explain further, saying: "We worked (in a little studio) most of last year writing songs. We 'demo' them as we write, which is like making rough draft recordings… Now, starting today, we're back in a real studio really recording again."

In his message board post, Dumont also revealed that there are "two new ND babies coming soon -- mine and Tony's -- so there will be a little delay for that." He added: "The goal is to write a couple songs more this year and of course finish recording all of them."

Discussion of the long-awaited follow-up to 2001's "Rock Steady" has surrounded Gwen Stefani and her bandmates since their successful reunion tour during summer 2009. Last September, bassist Tony Kanaltold Billboard.com that he anticipates the band's next tour will be "even bigger, and when I say 'bigger' I mean more shows and around the world."

In regards to the album, which the So-Cal rockers were writing when Kanal spoke to Billboard.com, he said, "I swear, we're having more fun than we've ever had writing a record before. I think [because] it's been a while, but also because we're older...the fact that we're still doing it together after 24 years -- you know, working on music -- I think we really appreciate that."

Most recently, No Doubt performed the Beatles' "Hello, Goodbye" at the Kennedy Center Honors last month in celebration of Sir Paul McCartney. SOURCE
