"MICHAEL JACKSON CONTINUES TO REIGN AS GOD OF MUSIC" -REVIEW

In the midst of all the controversy, Michael Jackson continues to reign as GOD of Music. Many spectators claim that some vocals on this album are not Michaels, but aside from "Breaking News" (Which contains James Porte's voice singing along with Michael Jackson's Voice} all songs contain Michael Jackson's vocals and this further proves exactly how talented he was as a vocalist. His musical talents know no boundaries. From the soothing and melodic opening track "Hold My Hand" to the heavenly and tear jerking closing number "Much Too Soon", "MICHAEL" is definately worth the buy. While the order of the tracklisting doesn't flow, it still doesn't change the fact that this album contains wonderful music and great harmonies.
Some Highlights: (I Like) The Way You Love, was originally released in 2004 with "The Ultimate Collection Boxset" in a demo form which was beautiful. The simplicity of the song is what makes it great, and Michaels vocals are infectious as he swoons the listener with metaphors and melodic harmonies. Here, on "Michael" is a reworked version, and at the start of the song you hear Michael speaking over the phone explaining the tone and instrumentation of the song, whch immediately follows the start of the track. That was a very special and unique touch, and although I prefer the original version from 2004 the song is still a delightful touch to the album.
"Best Of Joy" One of my favorites from the album is one of those types of songs that makes you smile and cry at the same time. In it, Michael sings "I am forever, We are forever." Its almost like hes singing about his relationship with his fans as he also states "we'll never part, our love is from the heart", and its been said he was going to reveal this song at his "This is It" residency in London, and was also the last song he recorded.
"Monster" which features 50cent, is a tune that gets stuck in your mind. From that scream at the start of the song, to the gritty production, down to 50cents rap verse, the song is definately a hit. I was distant to the song at first but after listening to it i fell in love with it. It tells a story about peoples desire for fame and warns those about the creatures aka "Monsters" that come with the fame.

Another highlight is
"Behind The Mask", the albums best number(IMO). This song is sheer Michael Jackson, the vocals, the instrumentation, the ad-libs, and the story about a woman torn between two men that she can't seem to choose between. Michael sternly sings "Who do you love, is it me" throughout the pre-chorus and you can feel his desire to have this woman,as he tells her to remove her mask of lies and stop hiding behind the truth.
Whether or not you're a Michael Jackson fan, this album is a MUST have, although it is not up to par with Michael's previously released material, it still contains some gems, rough, but gems nonetheless. I recommend it for any MUSIC lover and any Michael Jackson fan who just has to have his work. The man is a genius and although this record was finished without his creative blessing, he still found a way to shine his way through. - Jarod
